Oct 4 Fri 7:00 pm Stop the Violence -- Stop the Hate! Anti--Violence March. Broadway & Melrose. Join Queer Nation & other community groups as we march to call attention to the violence that the queer community faces on a daily basis. Speakers will address the topics of anti-queer violence, police misconduct, domestic violence, racist violence and sexist violence. Friday Oct 10: How do activism and scholarship inform each other as we respond to the increasing monopolization of media channels? How do we critique this situation for students and the public? Saturday Oct 11: A panel of local alternative media workers. What are the directions that left / progressive media take or could take to reach more people -- or fewer people in more local ways? -- and be more effective in public debate? Sunday Oct 12: Debriefing and synthesis -- what lessons will we take away from this meeting? The traditional organizational self-criticism session.
