Neighborhood Technology Access Council (NTAC) Meeting
6-8pm, Chicago Urban League, 4510 South Michigan Avenue. This is the first meeting of the Chicago-based coalition of community-based organizations interested in community technology issues. The coalition's initial membership consists of 20 Chicago CBO's who support universal technology access, increased proliferation and use of technology tools (hardware and software) and bridging the "digital divide" between low-income communities in Chicago and other cities and other communities in society. The NTAC's efforts will focus on five areas: Meetings will be held the third Friday of each month at locations within Chicago community areas. Refreshments will be served, and all interested community-based organizations, residents and CBO representatives are invited to attend. Defending Our Right to a Livelihood

The January 30th Forum will provide an opportunity for workers to discuss the issues around mass-layoffs, "restructuring," "downsizing," in Chicago and throughout the nation. We will look into both the immediate conditions facing workers at the UIC Medical Center and other area hospitals, as well as the direction our country's economy is going. The Forum will zero in on how to develop an all-sided struggle to win our right to a secure livelihood. Organized by the Hospital and Health Care Workers Forum.
