Revolt in the Sudan

video "The Nuba: The Sudan's Secret War." The Sudan is at the crossroads
of world politics. One year after Louis Farrakhan's trip there, in which
he voiced his full support for the ruling regime, the conditions of
exploitation, ethnic cleansing, and outright slavery persist against the
Black populace of the South. Robert Reed, who has written several
analyses of the Sudan for News & Letters, will discuss the present
political situation there and the social struggles arising against them.
He said, "I got interested in the Sudan because there is slavery there,
and as an African-American it made me real mad. My grandparents would
tell me stories about their parents who were slaves. So I take this very
personally." A full discussion will follow the presentation and video.
